Scotland hotel review – Cameron House, Loch Lomond

Linda Jackson reckons finding another hotel which can match the facilities offered at Cameron House, Loch Lomond – a huge variety of outdoor pursuits, stylish accommodation, a luxury spa, superb golf, a spectacular location and truly outstanding service – will not be easy

Before even arriving at Cameron House, Loch Lomond, I admit to already having a number of plus points on my mental list to be included in my hotel review of the luxury Scotland five-star resort…if they lived up to expectation that is. The plus points were: lots of activities, a spa complex and leisure club, two golf courses, and (being set right on the banks of Loch Lomond) definitely location, location, location. My weekend break in Scotland, on paper at least, looked very promising.

Guests arriving at Cameron House, Loch Lomond

The reality on arrival did not disappoint. The weather was cold but kind, the air clean and clear, the Loch very still, and the view stretching across it just wonderful. How nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and arrive at a luxury hotel in the middle of the peaceful Scottish countryside, yet just an easy 20/30-minute drive or taxi-ride (15 miles) from Glasgow Airport. How convenient is that, especially when nipping away for a short luxury break in Scotland – the shorter the break the more important the hotel’s proximity to the airport or railway station is. Even flying or arriving by train via Edinburgh, the journey to Cameron House takes around 1hour 15minutes by car – it’s only 64 miles away.

50 Shades of Grey? No… Try 50 Shades of Scotland instead

Scotland in colour

There’s certainly nothing grey about Scotland. You’ve just got to experience for yourself the vibrant sunsets and pastel sunrises, the orange hues of autumn, the vast pale blue skies, the winter whites of the Highlands and you’ll be captivated for life – guaranteed.

Nature’s sunset display in Scotland

Seeing the blue sky and white clouds mirrored in deep, dark blue lochs is breathtaking, golf on the lush green fairways of Scotland’s world-famous golf courses is enticing, and the orange flickering flames of a roaring log fire in a huge inglenook fireplace so very welcoming.

Enjoy a wee dram of Scottish whisky gleaming gold in the candlelight, the swirling of colourful tartan kilts and dresses during an evening of Scottish dancing, the stark contrast of a foraging squirrel wearing its rich red chestnut-coloured coat scurrying across pristine Persil-white snow, and a bird’s eye view of the green bonnie banks of Loch Lomond from the quirky custard yellow seaplane based at Cameron House.

Special place to stay in Scotland

Wow! It is difficult to get into some of the super-duper luxury baths around these days…

I just LOVE plunging into a deep bath, especially when it’s in a bathroom subtly lit with twinkling blue lights.

Romany caravan in the Highlands of Scotland

AND, not only that, I’ve got my own hot tub outside the door of my boathouse cottage PLUS a Romany caravan kitchen-breakfast room all to myself included in my unique five star self-catering accommodation in the Highlands of Scotland.

The Romany caravan kitchen is SO cute. Almost as cute as me.

Luxury holiday boathouse lodge beside Loch Ewe, Scotland

This unusual little luxury holiday home in Scotland sits right beside the River Ewe where it joins Loch Ewe. My unique holiday pad is called The Poacher’s and is set in the gardens of Pool House, Poolewe, in the Scottish Highlands – way north.

AMAZING scenery in the northern Highlands of Scotland. I’m just loving it.
