Nevis mountain biking tours – an unspoilt Caribbean Island

If you haven’t thought about going to the Caribbean for a biking holiday, then it’s time you did.

The unspoilt island of Nevis offers a great choice of biking tracks and cycling trails to suit everyone, no matter what level of fitness and ability. The roads in Nevis are not busy so pleasant to casually cycle on. The Nevis island main road is also ideally suited to the increasing number of resident and visiting ‘roadies’ – so you’ll find Trek road bikes, MTB or Hybrids available to rent.

Nevis Cycle & Triathlon Club – The Wheel World Cycle Shop – Winston Crooke

So whether your interest is mountain biking or casual cycling, road biking or triathlon, the Nevis Cycle & Triathlon Club (in conjunction with The Wheel World Cycle Shop) is there to make biking vacations in the Caribbean as action-packed and fun-filled as you want. You can go it alone and just hire a bike for a half-day or day in Nevis, or go on an accompanied bike tour of Nevis and be guided to all the best places to cycle on the island.

Scotland luxury holiday cottages, self-catering lodges & apartments

Luxury self-catering lodges in Scotland

Concentrating on the Scottish Highlands I am checking out special places to stay, namely luxury lodges, holiday cottages and unique boathouses to rent in Scotland but a journey that, on paper, should have taken around 4.5 hours is taking twice as long.

Spectacular Scottish landscapes

Scenery is breathtaking on the drive from Loch Ewe in the North West Highlands of Scotland, via Torridon, down to Port Appin on the West Highlands coast – 172 miles of jaw-dropping landscapes.

Unique places to stay in Scotland

Ashamedly selfish at times, I do need my own space so I’m looking for a unique or special place to stay in Scotland – a luxury self-catering cottage, lodge or boathouse maybe – from which the views will be mine to behold, and in which I can feel at home the minute I step through the door…

… and I’ve found some rather special places to stay, too.

Special place to stay in Scotland

Wow! It is difficult to get into some of the super-duper luxury baths around these days…

I just LOVE plunging into a deep bath, especially when it’s in a bathroom subtly lit with twinkling blue lights.

Romany caravan in the Highlands of Scotland

AND, not only that, I’ve got my own hot tub outside the door of my boathouse cottage PLUS a Romany caravan kitchen-breakfast room all to myself included in my unique five star self-catering accommodation in the Highlands of Scotland.

The Romany caravan kitchen is SO cute. Almost as cute as me.

Luxury holiday boathouse lodge beside Loch Ewe, Scotland

This unusual little luxury holiday home in Scotland sits right beside the River Ewe where it joins Loch Ewe. My unique holiday pad is called The Poacher’s and is set in the gardens of Pool House, Poolewe, in the Scottish Highlands – way north.

AMAZING scenery in the northern Highlands of Scotland. I’m just loving it.

Singing holidays in Barbados, Caribbean

How about an unusual vacation in Barbados, staying in a luxury villa on the fabulous West Coast? If you like singing soul, jazz, gospel and pop classics, then this is a fab holiday for you.

I’ve recently come across Mike King – a very talented man who spends a lot of time in Barbados… singing.

Or, more to the point, getting his house guests to sing with the help of his Caribbean-born wife, seasoned vocalist, Carol King.

X-Factor in Barbados – with artist and gifted singer Mike King

Music is what Mike King is all about.

Not only is Mike a successful artist and gifted singer in his own right, but he is also a song writer, pianist, vocal coach, musical director and producer. He’s definitely got the X factor. Well, a touch of it anyway – as a freelance vocal coach his recent clients have included participants in the popular television programme ‘X-Factor’ as well as artists who have performed beside Beyoncé, Rita Ora and John Legend. Pretty impressive I would say. He writes and produces for and with artists for films and advertisements, and is regarded by many as being one of the top vocal coaches in the UK.

Together Mike and Carol run singing holidays at their luxury villa on the west coast of Barbados, where guests stay for the duration of the singing vacation. Mike, who is a top UK vocal coach, leads the vocal sessions which include breathing and relaxation techniques and group harmony singing, as well as vocal warm-up and technique exercises to help develop your voice, and individual performance training.
